Sihing Alex Urbanik

 

 

Sihing Alex got started in the martial arts in January of 2000.  He had always wanted to study martial arts and after flipping through the phone book one night with a friend decided that Kung Fu would be their style of choice.  His friend decided that Kung Fu was not for them, but Sihing Alex signed up and officially enrolled in the Shaolin Wushu Kung Fu Institute.

 

Sihing Alex was introduced to several aspects of the Chinese martial arts while at SWKFI.  While there he studied under Sifu Dale McDine, Sifu Tim Niiler, Sifu Rob Pritchett, and Sifu Ron Succarotte.  Sihing Alex was drawn to the study of forms and developing his own personal health and took to the school whole heartedly.  He became an active member of the Demo team, Leadership team, and this is where he met Sifu Musa and Sifu Greg.  After achieving the rank of Brown/Black Sihing Alex was lucky enough to spend a month in China.  While abroad he was immersed in the Chinese culture and was touched by the kindness he was shown by the Chinese people.  After coming back from this trip his attitude and focus on the martial arts had changed and in 2004 he left SWKFI.

 

For the next year Sihing Alex took time away from the martial arts.  During this time he tried to keep tabs on his former classmates and while he missed the training, did not feel comfortable or ready to return to his martial arts studies.  When he learned that Sifu Greg and Sifu Musa had left and started their own school he could feel his interest in the martial arts begin to rekindle.

 

 Sihing Alex knew that if he returned to the martial arts he wanted to take a step up in the intensity of the training and truly develop his self defense skills to match his proficiency with forms.  After visiting Sifu Musa and Sifu Greg’s school and seeing his friends again he knew that he had find the right place to come back to his studies and in August of 2005 officially became a member of the school.  It was shortly after this that he was introduced to the Modern VeeJitsu system and in the Summer of 2006 he started training with Sensei Rob Pritchett in Modern VeeJitsu.  He is currently  a 1st Degree Black Sash Kung Fu Instructor and a Green Belt in the Modern VeeJitsu system.

 

 

 

Sihing Alex is currently ranked Brown Sash in Kung fu and Yellow Belt in Modern Vee-Jitsu. Sihing Alex  is also a certified Assistant Instructor  teaching:

 Long Staff

Spear

 Broadsword
